Sacraments

"I have learnt to love you late, Beauty at once so ancient and so new!"
                                                                       --St. Augustine

BAPTISM: The sacrament of Baptism is celebrated on the first Sunday
of every month at 12:30pm in the church. Please contact Fr. Ranallo at
831-3503 to register.  Baptism preparation class is held on the Sunday
prior to the Baptism and is required for all first-time parents and godparents.

When choosing a godparent for your child consider that godparents represent
the faith of the Church into which the child is to be baptized and are accepting
the responsibility of helping the child to grow-in and practice the faith.  As such,
Canon Law requires that the godparent be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
This means the individual must be at least sixteen years old, have been Baptized,
Confirmed, and have received his or her First Communion.  Additionally, if they
are married, they must be validly married within the Catholic Church; if they are
single, not cohabitating.  The Church requires at least one godparent for each child
presented for baptism.  In the cases where there are two godparents, one must be
male and one female. A baptized non-Catholic Christian may not serve as godparent
but may serve as a Christian witness.  Non-baptized individuals may not officially
act as a godparent or Christian witness to a baptism in the Catholic faith.
Please note: Godparents will provide a sponsor certificate from their own parish at
least one week before the baptism.
